*grumble* This whole campaign has been depressing for me. I was rooting for Romney and I can hardly think of anything worse than a McCain vs Clinton/Obama matchup this fall.
If it weren't for the threat of terrorism, I would be sorely tempted to just say "screw it" and hope for a Dem win in the whitehouse and republicans in congress in the hopes that by the next election people would be sick of idiots in the whitehouse and actually elect a conservative. Unfortunately, while the country could recover from four years of domestic stupidity in the whitehouse, I'm not sure we could survive four years of foreign policy stupidity. So, with extreme annoyance, I will probably vote for McCain this November, barring a major (and blessed) upset at the RNC convention.
Hopefully, Clinton will win the Democrat nomination as I think she is by far the weaker of the two candidates in a national election. Obama would crush McCain on personality and charisma. She's also slightly more serious on foreign policy in the horrid event that a democrat actually wins in November.
Having said all that, this is probably the first time I might consider voting for a serious (conservative) third party candidate - and the first time I think such a person would have a chance at winning
My annoyance with the Republican party is an all time high. The Republicans have all but obliterated their mantle as the party of small-government, fiscal responsibility conservativism.

McCain just really bugs me on immigration, other than that, he has done a few liberal things that piss me off, but not deal killer stuff, the immigration issue really pains me tho.

The immigration issue pains me, McCain-Feingold pains me, class warfare pandering pains me, almost handing the senate to the Democrats pains me, a number of other things about him pain me.
However, I can't say I'd rather see Clinton or Obama in office than him. Also, Tom Coburn, whom I respect as a true conservative who isn't afraid to take tough stands has endorsed McCain, albeit with some reservations. Story at BatesLine.
